Tezuka Productions has recently opened an official website for the anime adaptation for the Atom the Beginning manga series. The website revealed the first trailer for the anime series. The series will launch in Japan in 2017. The promo video features the tagline “, This is a previously untold ‘episode zero’ story leading up to the birth of Astro Boy.”

The series takes place in Japan 30 years before the events of Astro Boy. In order to combat the dangers of the world caused by robots and natural disasters, two scientists Umataro Tenma and Hiroshi Ochanomizu work to together to create a humanoid robot called A106. Tenma plans to turn A106 into a “god” while Ochanomizu wants it to be a “friend.” What will become of A106?
